Preventing sexual harassment in the workplace - new guide

A guide to preventing sexual harassment at work has been included in our Knowledge section.

The guide has been compiled to reflect the introduction, on 26 October 2024, of the new preventative duty to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment. It represents the most significant legislative step in attempting to safeguard employees from sexual harassment in the workplace for some years. Tribunals will have the power to increase discrimination compensation by up to 25% if a sexual harassment claim is successful and an employer is found to have breached the new duty.

Topics covered include: what is sexual harassment, the new duty to prevent, EHRC guidance and changes to be introduced by the Employment Rights Bill. It also features a comprehensive guide to practical steps employers can take.
