May 2024 inflation data

The UK’s inflation rate in May 2024, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), was 2.0%.

The detailed inflation figures for the year to May 2024 are as follows:

  • CPI inflation was 2.0% in May 2024 (Index: 133.9), down from 2.3% in the year to April
  • RPI* inflation was 3.0% in May 2024 (Index: 386.4), down from 3.3% in the year to April
  • CPIH inflation was 2.8% in May 2024 (Index: 132.7), down from 3.0% in the year to April

*The Office for National Statistics no longer regards the RPI as an official measure of inflation.
