January 2024 inflation data

The UK’s inflation rate in January 2024, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), was 4.0%.

The detailed inflation figures for the year to January 2024 are as follows:

  • CPI inflation was 4.0% in January 2024 (Index: 131.5), unchanged from the December 2023 figure
  • RPI* inflation was 4.9% in January 2024 (Index: 378.0), down from 5.2% in the year to December 2023
  • CPIH inflation was 4.2% in January 2024 (Index: 130.0), unchanged from the December 2023 figure

*The Office for National Statistics no longer regards the RPI as an official measure of inflation.
