December 2023 inflation data

The UK’s inflation rate in December 2023, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), was 4.0%.

The detailed inflation figures for the year to December 2023 are as follows:

  • CPI inflation was 4.0% in December 2023 (Index: 132.2), up from 3.9% in the year to November
  • RPI* inflation was 5.2% in December 2023 (Index: 379.0), down from 5.3% in the year to November
  • CPIH inflation was 4.2% in December 2023 (Index: 130.5), unchanged from 4.2% in the year to November

*The Office for National Statistics no longer regards the RPI as an official measure of inflation.
