August 2024 inflation data

The UK’s inflation rate in August 2024, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), was 2.2%.

The detailed inflation figures for the year to August 2024 are as follows:

  • CPI inflation was 2.2% in August 2024 (Index: 134.3), unchanged from the year to July
  • RPI* inflation was 3.5% in August 2024 (Index: 389.9), down from 3.6% in the year to July
  • CPIH inflation was 3.1% in August 2024 (Index: 133.4), unchanged from the year to July

*The Office for National Statistics no longer regards the RPI as an official measure of inflation.
