SSP rebate scheme closure
The Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme closes for COVID-19-related absences after 17 March 2022.
The scheme was reactivated on 21 December 2021 to cope with the spread of the Omicron variant. Following the announcement of its final closure, employers have up to and including 24 March 2022 to submit any final claims or to amend claims they’ve already submitted. The SSP rules will then return to normal, i.e. employers will pay SSP from the fourth qualifying day their employee is off work regardless of the reason for their sickness absence.
